At My Music Lead, we recognise the urgent need to address the climate crisis and reduce our environmental impact. As a provider of professional development and training in music education, we are committed to integrating sustainable practices across all areas of our work.
We understand that, while our sector may have a relatively low direct environmental footprint, we have a responsibility to lead by example and promote awareness and action within the broader cultural and educational communities.
Our Commitments
We are committed to:
1. Reducing Our Environmental Impact
Minimising unnecessary travel by prioritising remote delivery where appropriate.
Choosing venues that demonstrate sustainability credentials (e.g. good public transport access, recycling facilities, energy efficiency).
Encouraging delegates and trainers to travel sustainably and car-share where possible.
Reducing the use of paper and printed materials; opting for digital resources and communications.
2. Sustainable Procurement and Operations
Selecting suppliers and partners who align with our environmental values.
Avoiding single-use plastics and encouraging reusable, recyclable, and compostable materials.
Considering the environmental impact of technology, including digital storage and data use.
3. Embedding Sustainability in Our Programmes
Incorporating environmental awareness into our training content where relevant.
Promoting sustainability as a professional value within music education and leadership.
4. Monitoring and Improving
Regularly reviewing our practices and policies to identify areas for improvement.
Seeking feedback and ideas from our staff, trainers, and stakeholders on how we can do better.
Aligning our approach with sector frameworks such as Julie’s Bicycle and ACE’s Environmental Responsibility goals, where applicable.
Looking Ahead
We see sustainability as an evolving commitment, not a fixed goal. As we grow, we will continue to assess our carbon footprint, set achievable targets, and collaborate with the broader sector to promote a more environmentally responsible future for music education.
